EVO HAVEN

FAQs

About us:

Evo Haven builds unique spaces for living by recycling shipping containers. These shipping

containers are used in the most modern ways for comfortable and disaster-proof spaces. All

this is done with little to no impact on the environment and takes less time to create the

structure as compared to a standard house.

Are all of Evo Haven's homes built from shipping containers?

Most Evo Haven developments are made from shipping containers but some have a traditional "stick-built" structure with a container aesthetic for jurisdictions that prohibit the use of containers. - Please consult with your customer management representative for further details.

What makes container homes better than traditional ones?

Houses built with containers are comparatively stronger than traditional ones because they are

made of weathering steel. This material is used to construct bridges and other structures that

have to bear the harshest of weather. Moreover, these containers are transported by sea, and

they tolerate the rough behavior of ocean waves. Traditional houses are not strong enough to

face natural disasters like tornadoes, hailstorms, hurricanes, etc. They can be easily damaged

during natural calamities. On the other hand, shipping containers are built to withstand severe

climates, making them suitable for building homes. Evo Haven uses CSC Certified containers in

our developments; meaning the structure was inspected by the International Convention for

Safe Containers and approved for use in construction. The container is still considered new and

is practically free of dents, scratches, or blemishes.

How do container homes benefit the real estate market?

Containers cannot be destroyed easily. Thus, they are stacked up in empty yards contributing to pollution with no use in the near future. Since building conventional homes has become

expensive, shipping containers are cost-effective and durable for building aesthetic homes of

the future. According to the 2019 Survey of Construction from the Census Bureau, shipping

container properties practically take six to nine weeks for assembling, while a tra

Why is it better to build an Evo Haven container home than renovating

an existing house?

Renovating an existing house can be ridiculously expensive. It requires the restoration of

electrical fixtures, plumbing, HVAC, and other systems; which increases the cost to a great level.

Therefore, we believe that it is more economical to build a container home than renovating an

existing traditional home. As the shipping container itself is the only recycled portion in the

construction, other appliances installed in the home are brand new. Moreover, because of the

metal exterior, it cannot be harmed by insects like termites.

What is the difference between an Evo Haven and a Mobile Home?

Evo Haven properties are categorized by local authorities as "real property" since they are affixed to a permanent foundation. This means that they are appraised and valued using the same method as a single-family residence. Since Evo Havens are appraised as real property, they share in the benefits of real estate and appreciate in value. Mobile Homes are not affixed to a permanent foundation and can be easily transported to another site. Local authorities require mobile homes to be registered and titled using the same method as a vehicle. Since mobile homes are registered as vehicles, they don't share in the benefits of real estate and depreciate in value.

How durable are Evo Havens?

Evo Havens are significantly durable, due mostly to the certified steel container that we use as the frame for our structures. Evo Haven Private Suites have a lifespan of 50+ years with minimal maintenance. After this time, regular maintenance is recommended.

How does the Evo Haven development process work?

The Evo Haven development process is completed in a series of phases: First you have the Planning Phase where your plans are created, permit application submitted, expedited and approved. Next is the Pre-Construction Phase where your lot is leveled/cleared, utilities connected, foundation poured and frame installed. Dry-In Phase where framing, windows, siding, mechanicals, etc are installed. Finally, the Finish Phase is where drywall, painting, flooring, cabinets, countertops, bathrooms, doors, light fixtures and trim are completed.

How does Evo Haven combine sustainability with style?

Evo Haven uses the highest quality of efficient appliances and utilities for its customers. All

units consume electric power systems, including Energy Star Certified refrigerators, light

fixtures, washers, and dryers, refrigeration, etc.

Energy Star ®, a government-backed symbol for energy efficiency, provides credible, simple,
